How to Set Up a Profitable Information Marketing Business
Information marketing is one of the lucrative businesses that can help you make a lot of money from the comfort of your home, but you have to set up the business the right way. If you don’t, you will end up wasting your time. But not to worry, in this article I will guide you through the process so don’t make any mistakes.
There’s something inside of you, something you can do very well that others cannot do! There’s something you know that I don’t know, I want you to think… Can you talk to people and make them feel better? Can you motivate people and get them pumped up to achieve their goals? Do you know how to cook that special Egusi soup?
Are you thinking?
Can you design a website?
Are you good at using Photoshop? Microsoft Excel or any other office application?
Do you know about natural fruits or herbs to mix that can reduce high blood pressure?
I’m sure something has clicked 🙂
If it hasn’t, don’t worry. By the time you are done with this article, something must click by fire by force and you’d be able to put together your own information product so you can sell to people and make a lot of money and I’d also tell you how to get and sell information products you did not write. But before I go any further…
What Exactly Is Information Marketing Business?
I’m sure you have an idea, but let me break it down for those people who don’t understand. You see those books your Pastor wrote and he sells to you, they are information product and then he markets it by telling you about it during the announcement section of your service.
Let’s say your Pastor wrote a book titled “How to Break Free From Spiritual Poverty.” It’s safe to assume that he has written the book out of his wealth of experience as a Pastor. This book has been packaged as an information that you’d pay to get right? Of course you want to know how to escape spiritual poverty, so you buy it to learn.
Information marketing business is the art of packaging knowledge based products that mostly solve pressing problems and selling them to people that need them. Your information product should be aimed at one thing, to solve problems! Let’s see more examples of information products out there.
This Is An Information Product I Published and Sold In 2021
All I simply did was to put together my experience in the shoe business which I currently run, it had both video and pdf formats, then I set up a website and promoted it on Facebook, Instagram and email. The result? I started receiving N10,000 payments from people who are interested in the business.
and the amazing thing about this kind of business is that you only need to do the work ONCE! Yeah, after you create your information product, you only need to focus on marketing. The other sweet thing is that you can sleep and wake up to receive payment notifications once your sales funnel is up and running.
How to Get Started With Your Information Marketing Business
There are several ways to start this business and grow it into 6-7 figures every month, but you need to have a framework and a plan. There are two ways to set up your information marketing business and they are;
1. Using the Information You Own: This should be from your direct experience. Like I explained in the earlier paragraphs, you can put together your experience in a particular area and sell to people. This is something you know and can talk about even in your sleep.
2. Using Other People’s Information: If you feel like you don’t know anything well enough to sell to people to solve their problems, you can use other people’s information, sell and make money. Yeah, you mustn’t sell your own knowledge to make money. Surprised? Don’t worry, I’d explain!
There are basically two LEGIT ways you can make money by selling other people’s information and they are;
- PLR [Private Label Rights]
- Affiliate Marketing
i. PLR [Private Label Rights]
PLR stands for Private Label Rights. It refers to a type of license that grants the buyer the right to use, modify, and rebrand a product as their own.
The product could be anything from articles, blog posts, ebooks, videos, software, or graphics. Essentially, PLR products are pre-made content that the buyer can purchase and use as a starting point for their own creations.
One of the things I love about PLR is the fact that about 60 percent of the work has been done. Yes, the eBook, audio or whatever format it’s in has been created for you. Your only job is to do minor edits, I mean you can’t just use all the contents as is because some other people have access to it.
You set up your funnel, upload the eBook or videos, then run targeted ads to get people to start buying. You get it? So PLR eBooks can help you get started ASAP if you cannot come up with your own content. There are free PLR websites on the internet and there are also paid ones. Just do a Google search, You’d find them.
ii. Affiliate Marketing
Unlike PLR, 90 percent of the job has been done for you with affiliate marketing. The only thing is that you cannot alter the name of the owner of the content. So you have to set up your funnel and then direct traffic to your affiliate link generated by the affiliate company where the course is hosted.
Before I go any further, let me explain the concept of affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing business, simply put is a business where you get paid to promote people’s products. These products could either be digital or physical products. But for the purpose of this article, I’d be talking about digital products.
So when I created my last course, I recruited some affiliates and promised to give them 50 percent of the sales. The price was N10,000 and I gave out N5,000 to each affiliate that made a sale. I already created the videos, eBooks etc. All the affiliate needs to do is to send traffic to get to his/her affiliate link.
The affiliate software is set up such that whenever an affiliate signs up on the network, an affiliate link is create specifically for that person. When someone clicks on the affiliate links, the system recognizes that it’s coming from that affiliate, through the help of a cookie[not the edible one], the system tracks for 30 days, more or less.
That means that if someone clicks on your affiliate link and doesn’t buy today, if he eventually buys on the 29th day, the commission will be credited to you. You get? This system is put in place so there is no loss of sale whatsoever. Your job again is to promote.
Okay, let’s do a little recap!
- First, I talked about selling what you know by creating your own contents.
- Secondly, I talked about using PLR.
- And then lastly signing up for affiliate programs and promoting already existing courses.
But I missed out on something, it’s actually the basic before I got to this point. Not to worry, we’d go through it together. Before you set up your information marketing business, you have to decide on the NICHE you want to serve. Victor you have come again, which one is niche? Don’t worry, I will explain!
A niche refers to a specific segment of a market or industry that caters to a particular need or interest. It is a focused and narrow area of expertise or interest, usually defined by specific demographics, interests, or problems.
For example, the health and wellness industry is a broad market, but a niche within it could be weight loss for busy moms or yoga for seniors. Another example could be the fashion industry, where a niche could be sustainable fashion or plus-size fashion.
Choosing a niche is important for businesses and content creators because it allows them to target a specific audience and cater to their specific needs. By focusing on a particular niche, businesses can differentiate themselves from their competitors and become experts in their chosen area. This can lead to increased customer loyalty and profitability.
To find a niche, it is important to identify a gap in the market or a problem that is not being addressed. Conducting market research, analyzing trends, and identifying customer pain points can help to identify potential niches.
Additionally, businesses and content creators should choose a niche that aligns with their skills, interests, and passion to ensure that they can create high-quality content or products that resonate with their audience.
You Understand Right?
You cannot serve everybody, you need to pick a section of the market to serve. For me, I usually service the online business niche under the Business market, still under that there are different areas I can serve. You get? Like I’m writing about information marketing, it’s under “Online Business” niche, okay?
Don’t worry, you might begin to feel like oh, can I do this? Chill, you can do it! I’m not that brilliant and I’m doing it! Now back to NICHES. There are 3 broad categories of markets to work with and they are;
Here are some sub-niches within the Health, Wealth, and Relationship niches:
- Weight loss
- Mental health
- Alternative medicine
- Aging and longevity
- Addiction recovery
- Chronic illness management
- Sleep improvement
- Sexual health
- Personal finance
- Real estate
- Online marketing
- Career development
- Retirement planning
- Wealth mindset
- Dating advice
- Marriage counseling
- Family dynamics
- Communication skills
- Conflict resolution
- Self-improvement in relationships
So you can pick from any of the sub niches, then create a course around it. For example, I do eCommerce where I sell shoes. I can create a course around the business, let’s see urhm “How to Make 6 Figures Every Month From Shoe Business Without Going Through the Stress of Importing from China or Owning a Shop.”
I think I’m actually going to create another course with this title oh! Because I’m knowledgeable about this, it would be very easy for me to create. Let’s see if I can come up with the modules right away.
Module 1 – Introduction to Shoe Business
Module 2 – Types of Shoes That Sell Faster
Module 3 – Markets to Source for the Shoes Locally [Importers/Wholesalers Contacts Included]
Module 4 – How to Sell the Shoes Faster Online
– Selling Using Facebook ADS.
– Selling Using Instagram ADS.
– Selling Using the Dropshipping Method
Module 5 – How to Deliver The Shoes
Module 6 – Things to Look Out for Before Selecting a Shoe to Promote
Module 7 – Buying In Cartons Vs. Buying When You Get An Order
Module 8 – Bonuses
Module 9 – Conclusion
I just typed this off my head right now, I will definitely add more flesh to this and update my Shoe Money course. This is the same way you can come up with your course content. Breaking it down this way makes it easier for you to create the contents, I prefer doing videos.
You don’t have to show your face in the video if you are not comfortable with that, you can simple create your presentation slides with CANVA and then record the screen while you talk by using screen recording apps like screencastomatic, camstasia etc.
After you finish creating the modules, you then set up a presell page, lead capture page and sales page on your website. I know you are saying hey, Victor is this thing not too much? Don’t worry, keep reading and I will show you the easy way out. But before then let me explain what a those pages mean.
What Is a Presell Page?
A presell page, also known as a pre-landing page or warm-up page, is a type of web page that is designed to build anticipation and interest in a product or service before visitors are directed to the actual sales or landing page.
The primary goal of a presell page is to provide visitors with valuable information about the product or service, answer any questions they may have, and address any objections they might raise before they are presented with an offer to purchase. By doing so, presell pages help to warm up visitors and increase the chances that they will convert into paying customers.
Presell pages typically contain persuasive copy, engaging visuals, social proof (such as customer testimonials), and a strong call-to-action that encourages visitors to take the next step in the sales funnel, whether that’s signing up for a free trial, joining a mailing list, or making a purchase.
What Is a Lead Capture Page?
A lead capture page, also known as a landing page or opt-in page, is a specific webpage designed to capture a visitor’s information, such as their name and email address, in exchange for some type of value, such as a free download, discount, or access to exclusive content.
The primary goal of a lead capture page is to convert visitors into leads or prospects who are interested in your products or services. Lead capture pages often feature a prominent call-to-action (CTA) button or form that encourages visitors to enter their contact information.
Once a visitor has provided their information, they become a part of your email list or customer database, allowing you to market to them in the future. Effective lead capture pages are usually concise, visually appealing, and focused on delivering a clear and compelling offer to visitors.
What Is a Sales Page?
A sales page is a web page designed to persuade visitors to take a specific action, such as making a purchase or signing up for a service. Sales pages are typically used in digital marketing campaigns and are optimized to convert visitors into customers by highlighting the benefits of a product or service and providing a clear call to action.
Sales pages often include persuasive copy, images, videos, and testimonials to build trust and credibility with potential customers. The design of a sales page is usually focused on keeping visitors engaged and directing their attention towards the desired action, such as filling out a form or clicking a button to make a purchase.
Effective sales pages are often tested and optimized over time to maximize their conversion rates and achieve better results from digital marketing campaigns. A well written sales page should give you at least 3 percent conversion when you send targeted traffic.
Now that we have our information marketing business set up, the next step is to send targeted traffic to the presell page so people can read, subscribe and see your sales page. Makes sense? So this is exactly how you can set up and make money from information marketing, all you need is consistent traffic!
Now Let’s Talk About Traffic!
I don’t mean being stuck in Lagos traffic oh! I am talking about website traffic, that is people that visits your website. Traffic is the life blood of any online business, without traffic you will never sell anything! It’s common understanding, if people cannot see what you sell, then they will not buy!
There are different ways of generating website traffic and they are;
Direct Traffic: This is when a user types in the URL of a website directly into their browser or clicks on a bookmark to access the site.
Organic Traffic: This refers to visitors who arrive at a website via a search engine such as Google, Bing, or Yahoo. These visitors have found the website through a search query and clicked on one of the search engine results.
Referral Traffic: This is when a user clicks on a link to a website from another website. For example, if someone clicks on a link to your website from a blog or social media site, this would be considered referral traffic.
Social Traffic: This refers to visitors who arrive at a website via social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. These visitors have clicked on a link to the website from a social media post or profile.
Paid Traffic: This is when a website pays for visitors to come to their site through online advertising such as Google Ads or social media ads.
Email Traffic: This refers to visitors who arrive at a website through a link in an email. This can include newsletters, promotional emails, or any other type of email that contains a link to the website.
